Big paintings

A large painting on a wall has a different effect on a viewer than several smaller wall hangings. It involves you more profoundly, a little bit like the difference between IMAX and an ordinary movie screen. A large painting that you like can set the tone for a room. You can come back to enjoy the painting repeatedly and find new things in it. I have preferred to paint relatively big, usually 30 - 40 inches in size, because I value these qualities. It takes me about a month to complete such a painting, and the prices I ask reflect this amount of effort.

Frames

I custom-make simple wooden frames for my paintings, as shown in the photographs on this site. These are included at no extra cost.

Shipping and Sales Tax

I will arrange delivery of paintings that are purchased locally; otherwise they are shipped by UPS. The cost of the shipment is included in the price. The cost of Massachusetts sales tax, if applicable, is included in the price.

Visit Studio

Return Policy - Satisfaction Guaranteed

Purchases are conditional for all buyers: return a painting to me in undamaged condition, within 60 days, and I will refund its cost and pay for the return shipping. Sometimes you need to live with a painting to know whether it will work in your room.

Making a Purchase

To purchase a painting contact me, John Wood, by email (jawood@alum.mit.edu) or telephone (617-661-7628). I will relay the name of the painting and its price, and your email address, to PayPal. PayPal will send you an invoice by email, which you can pay by credit card or by several other means. When PayPal notifies me that the transaction is completed, I will ship the painting and notify you of its UPS tracking number.

Postcards

I distribute postcards of my new paintings, at no cost, to interested parties. If you would like to be on my postcard mailing list, send your postal address to jawood@alum.mit.edu.
